Games Rules

Separate into teams. Designate the first person to read the cards and give clues, while the rest of the team guesses. Everyone gets a turn to give clues. When it’s your turn to give clues, only look at one card at a time and read off the questions to your team. During the initial reading of the cards do not use any musical influence, just read them. The blue cards will have a missing word or phrase from the song lyrics as the answer at the bottom of the card. The black cards will have a verse or chorus from a song and your team will have to guess the correct title.

Allow your teammates to see the color of each card so they will know whether they are guessing the answer for a lyric or a title. Do not mention the titles of the songs when giving clues. Each team will have 2 minutes to correctly answer as many questions as possible for each round. If your team does not answer quickly or correctly then the card reader gives his/her team clues. Clues can be in the form of a gesture, picture or song but each type of clue can only be used one time per round. Use the timer on your phone to make sure each team does not take longer than 2 minute per round.

What You Need to Play

Recommended for anyone that listens to and loves R & B, Hip Hop or Pop music. Great for the whole family. If you can read, you can play!

A phone or tablet to be used as a timer., a pen and paper (if desired) or you can use an electronic device with a drawing app or note pad, and 3 or more people.

Card Reading

Read only the Artist name and lyrics displayed on the card (not using any musical inflection). You are allowed to re-read the lyrics but don’t forget the clock is ticking. Each round, you are allowed three clues; one of each type: (gesture, song and picture) once you give a clue using any one of these methods you cannot use that method again until your next turn.

Singing Clues

You can sing the verse before or after the selected verse. You can also hum the song. You cannot use the missing word or any part of the missing word, if you do, your team loses a point.

Gesture Clues

You cannot use your voice at all, you only can use gestures. Feel free to use props and even your teammates. If you speak or make a sound your team loses a point.

Picture Clues

You can use any medium to draw clues, even a phone or tablet. You are only allowed to draw pictures, no words or numbers. No speaking or gestures can be used with this clue, doing so will cause your team to lose a point.

Passing

Each time you pass a card your team loses 1 point. If you pass and your team does not have any point you remain at zero, there are no negative scores.

How to Win

Keep all of the cards your team answered correctly from each round and put the “losing cards” back into rotation. You can play until you have used all of the cards or until each player has had a chance to give clues. When a team passes or loses a point the other team does not get those points. Whichever team has the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Tie Game

If both teams have the same number of points at the end of the game the tie is broken by having a “dance battle”.
